The Ten Year Class reunion is a time for former classmates to let each other know what’s been going on in the decade since Graduation Day. A time to gather together for a bit of food, fun, and perhaps a beverage or two.
For some it’s the two month panic diet or workout regime that often precede such gatherings. It might be recalling old stories to be told, reliving antics from the past or tales of adventures undertaken since becoming alumni.
For others it’s all about the entrance.
When Newaygo’s Class of 2007 got together at Jimmy’s Roadhouse this past Saturday David Vincent decided to drop in to join the festivities.
Vincent parachuted onto the restaurant grounds in what was clearly the hands down best entrance of the night, skillfully landing within a stone’s throw of the bonfire, cornhole competition and general revelry taking place at Jimmy’s.
Dude, it’s just the ten year,” said a friend.”What are you possiblegoing to do for the twenty to top this?”
The general foreman at Quality Tree Service spends his off hours as a skydiving instructor for Holland Sky Dive a ‘part-time’ gig that has involved close to 300 annual jumps in the years since he has taken to the skies.
“I loved flying and this was cheaper than getting a pilot’s license,” he said when asked what led him to get involved in jumping out of airplanes.
And the reason he decided to arrive from the air?
“It just seemed like the quickest way to get here.” he said with a smile before packing his chute into the vehicle driven by his lovely (and presumably very patient) wife Mary and joining in the festivities.
