Hunting Events Serve Youth, Purple Heart Vets
By Pamela Hornbach
2016 represents another successful Purple Heart and Youth Challenge Hunt at Legends Ranch.
For the past 12 years, Legends Ranch has been not only proud but also honored to host these two memorable events in order to show support and recognition for our military service men and women and...
...help continue sparking the interest of the great outdoors for our challenged youth.
These two hunts would not take place if it weren’t for the businesses and individuals that so generously sponsor these unique opportunities. Regardless of the challenges one of the veterans or a young person may be facing, Legends Ranch is well equipped and eager to make this experience one to remember.
State Representative, Jon Bumstead, who has been a staunch supporter of our United States Veterans, was in attendance for the closing ceremony and had this to say; “What legends Ranch gives back… no words can explain the feeling. It’s not my story; it’s their story. It’s a beautiful day!”
AMVETS Post 1988,the largest post in the state of Michigan, was also well represented and offered their recognition and support. John Duvall, President of the AMVETS Riders Chapter 1988 and a Veteran of the United States Navy himself, was kind enough to say a few words. His speech was extremely heart felt and he added a personal touch to the closing ceremony.
Camp Liberty was able to join Legends Ranch this year and acted as a key supporter in both hunts. Rich Delisle, President, was able to secure not only the youth hunters but through The PATH Foundation, he was able to deliver Action Traxx Chairs for those chair bound, in order to experience all of the terrain in its entirety.
The Guides at Legends Ranch are truly unbeatable! They put forth extraordinary effort to see that each and every hunter receives the most amazing experience while they are on the ranch. It is easy to see they all enjoy what they do. These two charity hunts take place just prior to “opening day”, which means long days and nights, yet every single staff member stated “These two events make it all worth it. We are honored to be hosting.”
This Northern Michigan hidden gem, located in Bitely, has started to open its Lodge doors to the public in its off-season. They have already played host to corporate team building events, family reunions and more. The five star accommodations, surrounded by the entire splendor of what our great north country has to offer, is unmatched by any other. Legends Ranch seeks to make a positive difference in the lives of many and currently hosts 4 Veterans and 4 Youth for these amazing hunts, but has room for growth.
