...fought their way to 20 points and a tie for top honors.
The Tigers finished in 3rd place beating out a tough North Muskegon team by 2 points. Grant freshman Karlton Zerlaut lost a 3 set battle with North Muskegon's senior #1 singles player in the semi-finals and 6 of the 8 flights for the Tigers went 2-1 on the day.
Seniors Spencer Naffziger and Christian Ledezma pushed the champion TSCF team at #2 doubles 6-4 in the first set. Senior Spencer Johnston and freshman Dustin Slachter won the won the back draw after a tough 3 set first match.
"I'm very proud of the guys today,” said Head Coach Scott Zerlaut, “We had a very long day.”
“Our lineup had a couple little changes to try a new look and the team performed well.” He added. “TCSF and Whitehall are long established top notch programs that were among the top 5 teams in the state last year. For us to leave with the 3rd place trophy was nice. “
“The team wants to be right there with those top teams. We competed well and are now looking forward to some practice time next week to get better at some things."
