Grant finishes 2nd at C-M; Looks To Postseason Play
By N3 Sports Team
Grant went 4-1 Saturday, losing to Cadillac in the Central Montcalm tournament final match but defeating Corunna in the semi-final match, and Ionia, Big Rapids, and Tri County in pool play.
“Corunna, Cadillac and Grant have been ranked in Class B all season,” said Tiger Head Coach Tricia Schuitema. “Beating Corunna was...
..a good win for us; it was a good game against a very good team.”
“We lost to Cadillac in the finals, but I thought we put up a good fight against them, battling back and forth in the first set, especially. In the second set we had more errors than we would like to have.”
“We were a little under our average in team serve, receive and hitting % against them, but overall, it was a great game with two very good, ranked Class B teams.
Kylie Patton paced the offense with 9 kills, and added a block. Ashley Herin led the defensive effort with 17 digs while Sierra Schuitema put up 24 assists, and Laura Bouwkamp served up an ace.
“We finished our regular season very strong and I'm proud of the team for their efforts,” added Coach Schuitema.
The Tigers take their state-ranked team to Fremont on Wednesday at 7pm to open postseason play against the winner of Monday’s Fremont-Tri-County match.
