Friday Hoops Preview – Boys
By N3 Sports Team
Fremont at Newaygo
The Packers seem to be peaking and have shaken off those early season slow starts for the most part. Coach Pete Zerfas has a long bench and number of weapons on offense.
Newaygo has struggled mightily since the two teams met. They’ve won but twice and those were against teams with a combined record of 4-26. By contrast Fremont has only lost twice since that game and their foes had a combined 25-5 mark.
If the Packers get off to a quick start and take an early lead it could be a long night for Lion fans. Newaygo will need to...
...show they can contain Logan Karnemaat who owned the glass in their last game and get a couple of their shooters to fire in a few 3’s. Even so, the Fremont team is playing some awfully good ball right now and their hosts will have their hands full.
Grant at Tri County
Coach Matt McCorkle’s team always has a long list of scorers and tonight there could be ample playing time for non starters. This is not Tri County’s year. The Vikings have not won in 15 tries and tonight doesn’t look very promising either.
Should Big Rapids win as expected tonight to wrap up the Gold title the Tigers will be taking on Fremont Tuesday in what should give the winner second place and serve as a preview for their meeting in the District opener. The Tigers won’t be looking past the Vikings but it’s unlikely TC can put up enough points to stay with this team.
Holton at White Cloud
The Indians have notched one win on the season and that was against the Red Devils in their Holton gym. It was a game that halted a 0-6 run to open the season and now the Cloud will be looking to end their current 7 game skid in front of their home crowd.
White Cloud has only scored more than 50 twice and once was in their win over the Devils. Tonight would be an opportune time for it to happen again if they want to grab win #2.
