Newaygo vs. Tri County 6pm
After their 6-0 start the Lions won just 3 games the rest of the season.
And two of them were over the Vikings.
By a total of 77 points.
While the Newaygo cagers can hold their own against some of the area’s better teams their season has been plagued by inconsistency leading to...
...losses against less talented teams. Coach Joe Barrette has done an admirable job with an enigmatic team that possesses better shooters than ball handlers.
It took 19 games and overtime for Tri County to post win number one and with two losses to Newaygo by an average of 39 points a game, number two doesn’t seem a likely prospect in this one.
Grant vs. Sparta 7:30pm
The Tigers dismantled the Packers in the opener with an explosive combination of long range accuracy and the inspired inside play of Spencer Naffziger. By the time Fremont regrouped it was too late and the Tigers never let up.
Sparta forged a 10-10 record playing most of their games in the rugged OK Blue. They played two games against Gold Conference teams, Fremont in December and Grant last week.
They won both of them.
If the Tigers can get the kind of performance from outside the arc by Chase, Alvarez, et.al and give Naffziger some inside room to make his spin moves to the hole they’ll be in this one because they’ll have to put up points.
But so does Sparta.
And Grant’s defense has a way of creating ample turnovers when they’re on their game.
