Was the Grant loss a wake up call for Fremont? Since that meager 29 point output the Packer offense has averaged nearly twice that number and run off 5 wins in a row.
The Cardinals had their undefeated season come to an end with a gigantic thud Tuesday when Fremont’s former Lakes 8 rival Ludington dismantled them at Hawley Gym. The same Oriole team that just so happens to loom as the Cardinals first round opponent in District Tournament play at Benzie Central.
They’ll be coming into town looking to do a little healing at the expense of their hosts. The Packers are playing with confidence and...
...have gotten out of the gate stronger of late. If they hang close to the Cards their venue is a tough place for opponents in a close game and a win puts the Pack within a game of BR for the top spot ij the Gold.
Matt McCorkle’s Grant squad is playing some very solid basketball these days. This is a very balanced team that has won 7 of their last 8 with a host of players making it into the scoring column as the Tigers utilize a long bench that also runs deep in defensive skills.
Reed City has only won three games and they have all been on the road, but those teams weren’t this team. The Tigers are tied for second with Fremont and 2 behind BR so a win means they will gain ground on one of them.
Newaygo and Central Montcalm both need wins right now. The Lions have dropped 7 of 8 and the Hornets have gotten stung in 8 of their last 10. Newaygo’s last two losses were close games and they are a different team when they get off to a good start and get Cameron Fisk going early.
The outcome of this one might hinge on which CM team shows up tonight. The one that was blasted by the Packers on Tuesday or the team that nearly pulled of a big win over Grant last Friday?
Hesperia has lost 7 of 8 and White Cloud has just one win on the season. The Panthers won by 12 at White Cloud earlier in the year and this time they’re playing at home. The Indians struggle to keep pace against teams with deeper talent but they never stop competing.
