Two Lions Qualify for State in Early Stages of Regional Meet
By Alexis Mercer
The Regional Track meet is currently underway at Shepherd for the Newaygo Lions Track Teams. Two athletes qualified for the Lions near the beginning of the meet. Madison Cook pole vaulted a personal record 8'6", which was equal with another vaulter, so she went into a tie-breaker and ended in 2nd place. Top 2 in each event qualify for the State Meet. Justice Long is the Regional Champion in the 110 meter hurdles and will compete in the State Meet as well.
More results and qualifiers will be posted on Near North Now at the conclusion of the meet when final results are available.
